ABOUT OUR MOUNTAIN BIKE CAMP

Fun Is the Name of the Game

Located in Kanata, Ontario, Bakkers Trailblazers mountain bike camp welcomes campers aged 5 - 13. Parents can rest assured that their kids are under the supervision of caring and trained counselors. Our instructors are personally trained by former mountain bike professional and PMBIA certified coach Osmond Bakker.

We teach kids how to mountain bike in a safe and progressive manner.  Kids are placed into one of our 5 ability groups and learn the fundamentals of mountain biking including braking, descending, log hops and singletrack riding

Every camper at Bakker's Trailblazers will have an amazing and fun experience developing mountain bike skills.  If your child is under 5, but proficient at mountain biking, let us know and we will assess their eligibility.

  2. Pack a bag with the following

    • A spare inner tube of the correct size for the bicycles tires

    • Spare warm clothing and a towel (in case of rain). Store clothes in a waterproof bag (garbage bag with their name on it....we have safe storage space)

    • Bug spray

    • A Raincoate

  3. Hydration pack: The campers are out riding all day and need to stay hydrated, the hydration packs carry a lot of liquid and can also carry snacks, spare tubes and money (if needed). Hydration packs are less tiring to ride with vs backpacks. We have a place to refill hydration packs at camp, but please fill the hydration pack every morning. Please show your child how to open and close their pack as our counsellors will be unable to help due to covid regulations.  Click here for our recommended hydration pack.

  5. Hand Sanitizer

  6. A bell installed on the bike

  7. A lunch

  8. Make an ID card and put in a ziplock or waterproof bag (name, phone number and our number 613-323-0724. Place in their hydration pack

  9. Please Email us back at osmond.bakker@gmail.com to let me know the skill level of your child, on a scale of beginner, moderate or advanced. If you are unsure of their skill level, you may also detail the trails they have been on and we will be able to pinpoint their ability in reference to other campers.
